The ceremony of laying flowers to the monument of the great Kazakh thinker and poet Abai Kunanbayev took place in the central square of the city. By good tradition, public figures, writers and Abayevites of S. Amanzholov EKU took part in the event.

- We consider it important to stick to traditions and honor them. That is why we came to lay a bouquet of fresh roses and show our deepest respect to Abai Kunanbayev. Our university appreciates his legacy in a special way. For this reason, the Research Institute "Abaytanu" operates on the basis of EKU, the youth scientific and educational center "Abai" was opened in Poland, a special scholarship named after Abai was established, - says Irina Rovnyakova, vice-rector for SR&NR.

This year the great Kazakh enlightener turned 178 years old.
